At a young age Chef Alessandra Innamorato was inspired to start cooking by her mother, who didn’t like to cook, and her Italian father, who loved to eat. By age 13, she was preparing coq a vin, fresh pasta and Mediterranean feasts for her family and friends. She went on to work in kitchens galore, until 1993 when she enrolled in L’Academie de Cuisine. Here Alessandra learned culinary art and food science from master chefs Francois and Pascal Dionot and transformed what was previously only a job into a life calling.
Alessandra has cooked in James Beard award-winning restaurants Fullers in Seattle and The Frog and the Redneck in Richmond, VA. She’s worked with such notable names as Jimmy Snead, Jean-Louis Paladin, Monique Barbeau, Dean Fearing, and Gail Arnold. In 1998 Alessandra decided it was time to concentrate on her own talents and thus Happy Belly, her private chef and catering business was born.
Alessandra has left a trail of happy bellies at weddings, fashion shows, backstage at rock concerts, charity events, cocktail soirees and dinner parties. She’s fed Nancy Reagan, Al Gore, Liev Schreiber, Naomi Watts, Leonard Nimoy, Angelica Huston and Jimmy Dean the Sausage King. Latin, Italian, French, and Asian entrees regularly appear on her table, as do delicious low-fat, low-carb and vegetarian dishes. She’s at ease preparing the most exquisite meals, but also designs menus featuring such tongue-in-cheek items as a meatloaf tower and Twinkies flambé. Every single dish she makes from scratch, using only the freshest of ingredients, and all of her creations are infused with style, playfulness, and above all, LOVE.
Alessandra returned to the US in 2008 after living for 4 years abroad, where she traveled throughout some of the best regions of Europe, soaking up the culinary bounty. She now lives and works as a private chef and caterer for hire. She also runs a renegade, pop-up supper club, and owns an artisanal smoked olive business, both under the name Orgasmo de la Boca She offers her services anywhere a plane, train, or automoble will take her.
